Overcoming the Challenges of Temporomandibular Joint Disorder with Acupuncture
Temporomandibular joint disorder, also known as the temporomandibular joint syndrome (abbreviated to TMD), has varying symptoms. It has been one of the most common ailments that I have seen during my observation at the clinic of my master, the Chinese medicine doctor, Dr. Chong-Kai Wen. Today a female patient in her fifties came a long way – from Changhua – specifically to visit the clinic. She had suffered from TMD for over one year. Occasionally she had not been able to open her jaw or had had pain in the temporomandibular joints. At the same time, due to her being nervous and easily prone to anxiety, she had often suffered from a tight chest and a lack of stamina. She even mentioned that she had never known what it felt like to be joyful.
