Acupuncture - the Beacon of Light for Patients with Parkinson's Disease
It wasn't until I started observing at my master’s clinic that I started to realize the significant number of patients with Parkinson's Disease (PD) in Taiwan. PD patients are not common in either the Chinese or Western medical clinics in Taiwan, which is also the case in Mainland China. Usually PD patients go to hospitals. My master’s PD patients came not only from all over Taiwan but also from abroad. The patient I encountered during my observation was a male from the Philippines who was in his seventies. He only spoke English and found my master's clinic via the internet with the help of his friend, a Taiwanese businessman who had emigrated to the Philippines. 'We came here for the reputation of Dr. Wen,' was the first thing he said when he first came to the clinic. A grand company of five family members and friends turned up at the clinic.
